The top 30 students spellers in 4th and 5th grades were  invited to participate in the Rollingwood Annual Spelling Bee today.  The bee is sponsored by The Scripps National Spelling Bee with schools participating from throughout the US.  The bee went 10 rounds with the winner and runner-up coming from Ms. Schwarzbach's class.   Joshua Lopez came in first and Yoochan Lee second.  Joshua will now participate in the written semi-finals at Lawrence Hall at UC Berkeley on February 22nd.   I would like to congratulate all of our students for their fine effort.

Organics Recycling Begins at Rollingwood

We started our Organics Recycling Program today at Rollingwood.  Students and staff are making an effort to reduce waste and save money through decreasing the amount of our garbage collection bill.  I have a few pictures to show how it went today.
The Green Team help our younger students with their recycling
Unopened food items ready for recycling
Recyclables are paper, glass, and some plastic items.
By recycling our trash is reduced by 80%.  This is all of the trash we produced during lunch.

Organics bins with food products, some paper, and our new compostable trays.
All of the trays we used today.  That's over 100.
