Our students this year will be participating in a community building activity called "Families". This is an activity where one student from each grade is a member of a group known as a "family". These "families" work together on different projects that help them build understanding and good character while giving older students the opportunity to gain leadership skills. We will have family activities most months with each activity focused on a good character or important cultural trait. The first project is family members creating shields to display. Here are some pictures from this first session.
So happy to see the Families program back. Its a wonderful way to connect our community even more.
ReplyDeleteI agree, this was one education component that attracted our family to Rollingwood when we toured the school in 2006 before Joaquin entered kindergarten. It exposes reinforces responsibility among the older kids as they mentor the little ones while the younger kids learn from their big brothers and sisters. Thank you, Rollingwood, for bringing it back.
